Manager & Owner of a Healthfood Shop: Windmill Health Foods - Bristol. Gives regular talks to local community in wholefoods and nutrition.

 

1988- present

Complementary Health Practitioner specialising in Shiatsu, Reiki and

Seiki. Has worked from various Centres like The Centre of Wholehealth, Bristol, Hereford Health Centre and The Arcturus Centre in Totnes. Has helped to promote complementary medicine by regularly attending Health Exhibitions and giving periodic talks and demonstrations on Shiatsu, Reiki and Movement to Health Care Establishments and Schools in Bristol and Devon. Presently has thriving practice at her home base in Totnes.

 

1991-2003

Teaching preventive health-care like Shiatsu, Stress Management, Meditation and Amerta Life Movement to independently organised groups, Shiatsu Schools and Colleges of Further Education in Bristol and Devon.

 

1995-1997

Organiser of International Amerta Movement courses and events in Dartmoor, Devon and in Assisi, Italy.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING (by subject)

NUTRITION

1977-1980

Training in Macrobiotic and Wholistic Nutrition at the Macrobiotic Centre in Rome, Italy and at the East/West Centre in London.

 

MEDITATION

1980-1982

Training in Sufi Meditation and Yoga at the Golden Temple in London and attends lectures of Sufi Teacher Irina Tweedie.

 

1982-1990

Following a major illness in London, becomes a student and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of qualified Tibetan teachers like Geshe Namgyal Wangchen (author of 'Awakening the Mind of Enlightenment' - 1987 Wisdom publications) and Geshe Damcho Yonten (founder and director of Lam Rim Buddhist Centres in Bristol and South Wales) and attends regular Buddhist retreats. During this time, receives several initiations and teachings of Buddhist Practices from major Buddhist teachers including His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Receives training in Tibetan Massage and Medicine and periodic treatment and healing from Tibetan Buddhist Doctors. Receives initiation and teachings on the Healing Medicine Buddha.

 

1989-1997

Is introduced to the Practice of Satipattana: the Way of Mindfulness and Zen Buddhism by Sonia Moriceau Sensei, and continues to practice and train in it with her teacher, the late John Garrie Roshi.

 

1994-present

Attends teachings and retreats of Sumarah Meditation with teachers such as Pak Wuondo, in Solo, Indonesia and his main pupil Laura Romano (author of 'Sumarah' - 1999 Ubaldini Publications).

 

TAI CHI, QI GONG and AMERTA MOVEMENT

1983-1988

Tai Chi and Qi Gong training - first in London and then with the Bristol School of Tai Chi  teacher Allen Peck.

 

1990-1998

Undergoes an extensive training in Amerta psychosomatic movement (1,500+ hours) in UK and abroad with the Educational xxxxxx Programme directed by the Indonesian Movement teacher Suprapto Suryodarmo. Under his supervision, also trains to teach Amerta Healing Movement - applying Shiatsu and Meditation Skills to Movement. Other Main teachers of Movement have included Sandra Reeve and Helen Poyner, director of the 'Walk of Life' and co-author of a book about Anna Halprin - 2004 Routledge Publications. Together with fellow colleagues and also solo, she gives public performances of Amerta Healing Movement in UK and abroad.

 

1998-present

Continues professional development in Amerta Healing Movement (now named Amerta Life Movement) by being part of a weekly peer group, has periodic movement supervision and attends periodic movement courses at post-graduate level.

Attends a one year Counselling Course at the Extra-Mural Department of

Bristol University.

 

2004

Trains in NLP and Hypnotherapy with 'Training Changes' in Cheltenham -

an organization recognised by INLPTA, (International Neuro Linguistic

Programming Training Association).

 

REIKI (Usui Tradition of Natural Healing)

1997-2000

Receives personal healing and training from several healers in UK and Indonesia.

 

1999

Receives the First and the Second Reiki Degrees.

 

2001-2002

Trains to receive Reiki Master Teacher degree with Reiki Master Teacher Abbi

Ross in Newton Abbot, Devon.

 

SHIATSU & SEIKI

1985-1988

3 year’s course to qualify as a Shiatsu practitioner with the Healing-Shiatsu Education Centre in Herefordshire. (Director: Sonia Moriceau).

 

1988-1993

Is a member of the Healing-Shiatsu Group, Bristol - a Shiatsu peer group, meeting on a weekly basis and offering professional shiatsu support and supervision.

 

1989-2003

To continue professional development, attends several post-graduate Shiatsu courses which include Postural Alignment (with Kiku-Zutrau Miyazaki), Shiatsu 5 Element Psychology and Diagnosis, Breathing and the application of Mindfulness to Shiatsu (with the Healing-Shiatsu Education Centre). Zen Shiatsu Psychology and Oriental Diagnosis (with Wataru Ohashi Sensei). Chakra Healing and Shiatsu (with Carola Beresford-Cooke).

 

1988 -1992

Shiatsu assistant teacher - in the three year professional shiatsu course with the

Healing-Shiatsu Education Centre.

 

1993

Becomes a registered Member of the Shiatsu Society.

 

1997

Following a Shiatsu Teacher Training with the Bristol School of Shiatsu and an Adult Education Teacher Training, becomes a Shiatsu Society Registered Teacher.

 

2003-present

Meets with Shiatsu Master Akinobu Kishi Sensei and starts training in 'Seiki Soho' (A development of Shiatsu). In September 2005 attends a 3 weeks retreat in Japan organised by Akinobu and Kyoko Kishi, on Seiki, Hara and Ki development in the Traditional Japanese Cultural Arts.
