Life Healing ArtsMovement is an approach to movement, which integrates the principles and practice of Amerta Movement, Shiatsu and Meditation. It is a practice without a fixed form, where the practitioner is encouraged to develop their authentic movement language, and is guided through “daily life” postures and movements to develop range and expression, as well as awareness and reflection. Gradually, the practitioner grows confidence in the body’s own intelligence to direct the stream of their movement expression. Habitual postures and tensions, which limit vitality and vision, are released, freeing the way to explore new, more conscious and connected ways of moving.
Moving in different environments is an integral part of this approach, as one part of our movement is informed by the environment we move in. In moving indoors, our awareness is contained within the walls of a hall or studio, with the limitations of the room, the building and its contents. Movement indoors is easier to define and its resonance stays in. Outdoors, there is more sensory input and the feeling of space widens. The opportunity for opening our senses to the physical elements of nature is often revitalizing for the body and calming for the mind.
The essence of 'Life Healing Arts Movement' is in the practice of it, and its integration in daily life. Below are some its numerous benefits:
- Posture alignment
- Integration of all parts of the body, to the spine
- Release of tensions and holdings
- Ability to follow movement in space, as it unfolds
- A multi-dimensional awareness of body and space
- Grounding in motility
- Integration between multi levels of being, including the spiritual
- Ability to develop a receptive and collaborative attitude to own, to other people’s needs and to the environment
